North Belfast Parks – Short Walk

DATE: 9^th July 2021.

SHORT WALK – 3 miles/1 hour 30 mins, plus lunch break.

MEETING POINT/TIME: either at 10.45 am at Yorkgate Railway Station

or at 11.00 am at gate into Alexandra Park, Deacon Street (off North Queen Street, Belfast).

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:

Outward Journey:

Train – Dep Larne Harbour 9.55 am, Dep Larne Town 9.58 am, (also stops at Glynn, Magheramorne, and Ballycarry), Dep Whitehead 10.15 am, Dep C’fergus 10.23 am, Arr Yorkgate 10.45 am.

Return Journey:

Train – Dep Yorkgate 1.59 pm, Arr C’fergus 2.19 pm, Arr Whitehead 2.31 pm,

Arr Larne town 2.46 pm, Arr Larne Harbour 2.50 pm  (also stops at Ballycarry, Magheramorne and Glynn).

BY CAR:

Take Belfast Road/Shore Road/York Road towards Belfast.  Immediately past Grove Wellbeing Centre at 120 York Road (on RHS), turn right onto North Queen Street. Deacon Street is the third street on the right hand side, where there is ample parking.

THE WALK:

Begins at Yorkgate Railway Station (for public transport users) or at Deacon Street park gate (for car users).  We will walk through Alexandra Park and then around Belfast Waterworks Park. The walk is level and well surfaced. Note that there are no loos in either park.

LUNCH:

We will have lunch at c12.15 pm at “Sozo”, Antrim Road, Belfast (near corner of Alexandra Park Avenue) and walk back to Deacon Street and Yorkgate Railway Station.
