Woodland Trust, Rathfern (Newtownabbey) to Carnmoney Hill

Short Walk: 3.5 miles, approx. 2 hours

Meeting Point: Layby at Woodland Trust in Rathfern Estate at 10.30 a.m. with the walk starting at 10.45 a.m.
There are toilets at the Sovereign Centre.
Transport: By Car.
· Drive along the Shore Road to roundabout at Whiteabbey. Take Station Road to another roundabout on Doagh Road.
· Go straight up O’Neills Road.
· Just after the traffic lights turn right.
· Drive straight until you come to Woodland Trust entrance on Left.
· There is a layby at the entrance pillars.
· There are two other car parks close by.
Terrain:
The terrain can be challenging and mixed.
Some flat areas. A lane which is uneven with a slight incline that can be muddy
There are styles where you need to be able to raise your leg high.
The views and flowers are spectacular
Refreshments:
Bring water and a snack.
It would be good to have lunch at a view point but if the weather is inclement lunch can be at Hillside Garden Centre once we have returned to the cars
