Crawfordsburn Walk – Friday 12th April

Friday 12 April will be through Crawfordsburn Country Park.

Meeting Point – Helen’s Bay Railway Station at 11.05

Public Transport- By train to Lanyon Place, then change to Bangor line.

Whitehead 9.45, Carrickfergus 9.54, Greenisland 10.03, Jordanstown 10.06, Whiteabbey 10.10

Arriving at Lanyon Place at 10.22. Then Bangor train from Lanyon Place at 10.42

Return trains from Helen’s Bay at 5 and 35 minutes past the hour.

Anyone travelling by car, there is limited car parking at Helen’s Bay station but there is also parking in Church Road or Golf Road near the station.

Walk – Will be approximately 4.5 miles and take about 3.5 hours including lunch.The walk is mostly flat with a couple of steeper inclines and in some of the forested areas, it may be a bit muddy.  Route will be in a loop from railway station to Country Park through Forest and Glen to wild flower meadows, along coastal path and then back through Chimera Wood to Golf Road and station. Plenty of opportunities for stops to take in views for those who may need to catch their breath (like Jennifer). 

Lunch – Refreshments are available at the Park Cafe, but walkers may bring their own lunch, plenty of picnic tables available. The last part of the walk will be after lunch.

Toilets – Available at Lanyon Place station and Crawfordsburn Country Park Centre.
