Proposed Gadabout Visit to Carnlough

If you think Carnlough is just the coast road you are very much mistaken. Carnlough has a lengthy history, spreading inland to the lime quarries and to both England and Scotland to connect with coal mining and wealthy personnel.

We are asked to meet our guide Mary Watson by 10-00am at the Hub (on the left side of the road past the Londonderry Arms.

Tea and coffee will be served there, and she will give a brief history to set the scene for us.

The tour on foot is about one and a half hours of gentle walking round the harbour and the extensive interior.  Lunch can be had locally.

Price of the tour is £5-00.

The proposed dates are either:

Saturday May 25th or Saturday June 8th.

Travel must be by car.   Even on a weekday Carnlough return by public transport is very difficult.  I have done the tour with a historical society and this date and travel was not a problem.

There is an expression of interest list in Nelson Street.  Please indicate your interest and availability for either or both dates.  The final decision on the date will be made at the May monthly meeting. Thank you
