This walking group has been formed to accommodate those who want a short walk conducted at a leisurely pace and are more interested in fresh air and companionship than clocking up miles. Walks normally last approximately 1 hour/ 1 hour and a quarter.
All are welcome BUT It is imperative that you complete a form before you attend a walk for the first time, otherwise you will not be able to participate. Please contact Teresa for details.

STROLLERS SCHEDULE
11th September 2025 to 6th November 2025
Thursday 11th September: Whitehead – Beach Road Nature Reserve
We will take the 9.50 am train from Carrickfergus, arriving Whitehead 10.00 am. Alternatively, you can meet at Whitehead station at 10.00 am.
Walk starts promptly at 10.00 am from Whitehead Station to Beach Road Nature Reserve and back into Whitehead.
Tuesday 16th September: Carrickfergus Mill Ponds
Meet at Carrickfergus Railway Station. Train arrives from Belfast direction at 1.50 pm.
Train arrives from Larne direction at 1:54 pm. Walk starts promptly at 2.00 pm.
Walk details – Starting from Carrickfergus train station, we will walk past the Mill Ponds, through Shaftesbury Park, and Marine Gardens to Fisherman’s Quay and return to Carrickfergus town centre.
Wednesday 24th September: Walk in Botanic Gardens, Belfast.
Transport: we will take the 9.54 am train from Carrickfergus to Botanic station.
Walk details – From the station we will walk up Botanic Avenue to and around Botanic Gardens. We may take in the Tropical Ravine and/ or the Palm House. There is a coffee shop in the museum and plenty of coffee shops in Botanic Avenue. Return trains are every 30 minutes at 10 to the hour and 20 past the hour. Please check that the train goes to your stop.
Thursday 2nd October: Walk in Victoria Park, Belfast.
Transport: Leaving Carrickfergus on the 9.54 am train to Lanyon Place, we will take the Glider G1 to Holywood Arches. Gliders run every 7-8 minutes. We will return by Glider to Lanyon Place. Trains run as far as Whitehead at 25 minutes past the hour and 5 minutes to the hour. Refreshments are available at local cafes on the Newtownards Road.
Walk details – Starting from C S Lewis Square we will walk to Victoria Park, round the loop in the park and back to C S Lewis Square. This should take approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.
Tuesday 14th October: Carrickfergus Marina
Meet at Carrickfergus Railway Station
Train arrives from Belfast direction at 1.50 pm.
Train arrives from Larne direction at 1:54 pm
Walk starts promptly at 2:00 pm.
This walk is through Legg Park and around the Carrickfergus Marina area and into Carrickfergus.
Wednesday 22nd October: Ballyclare Six Mile Park
Public transport is not feasible for this walk. I suggest car sharing where possible.
Meet in the car park of Six Mile Leisure Centre at 10.20 am. Walk starts at 10.30 am. We will walk from the Leisure Centre car park through the Six Mile Park and into Ballyclare. Cafes are available in the town centre.
Thursday 6th November: Holywood shore walk
Transport: we will take the 9.54 train from Carrickfergus to Lanyon Place, arriving at 10.21, then the 10.42 train to Holywood.
Walk details: This is a walk from Holywood station along the coastal path as far as Seapark and back into Holywood. Return trains to Lanyon Place are at 16 and 46 minutes past the hour. Return trains from Lanyon Place to Carrickfergus are at 25 and 55 minutes past the hour.
Please note:
Routes for all the above walks are mostly on level ground, along pavements or tarmacked paths with occasional short inclines.
