Short walk:  Approximately four miles and two hours (excluding lunch)

Leader: Jennifer

Start:  Marino Railway Station at 11am

Public Transport – By train to Lanyon Place, then change to Bangor line.

Whitehead 9.45, Carrickfergus 9.54, Greenisland 10.03, Jordanstown 10.06, Whiteabbey 10.10.  Arriving Lanyon Place at 10.22. Then Bangor train from Lanyon at 10.45 to Marino, where there are new ramps out of the station.

Return trains from Holywood Train Station to Lanyon Place at 03 and 33 minutes past the hour arriving at Lanyon Train Station at 16 and 46 minutes past the hour.

Anyone travelling by car please note that there is no car parking at Marino station but cars could be parked in Old Quay Court (a residential development on the left just before the railway bridge on Old Quay Road).  The walk ends in Holywood but it is only a short walk or train ride back to Marino.

Route:  From Marino Station along ‘Millionaires Row’ to the North Down Coastal Path and up to the Main Bangor Road.  Cross immediately at the lights into Ballymenoch Park and from the top of it across to the Twisel Bridge then down Church Road into Holywood. The walk is mostly flat with a couple of gentle inclines and on good paths/paved quiet roads.  The first few hundred yards of the walk and then through the park were muddy earlier this week with fallen leaves making it a bit slippy.  There is an underpass from Holywood Town Centre back to the train station.

Lunch:  Good choice of restaurants/coffee shops to choose from in Holywood – including Home Bird Cafe, Coast, Dirty Duck, Alexanders & Co, Suitors & Co, The Coffee Yard, and The Bay Tree.

Toilets:  In Holywood and at Lanyon Place.

Hopefully something for everyone and that we see as many as possible on Friday,
