Walk – Friday 20th September: North Belfast Parks

SHORT WALK – 3 miles/1.5 hours plus lunch break.  DATE: 20 September 2024.

MEETING POINT/TIME: 11.00 am at the gate into Alexandra Park, Deacon Street, off North Queen Street, Belfast.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT:

Outward Journey:

Train – Dep Whitehead 10.15 am, Dep Carrickfergus 10.24 am, Dep Jordanstown 10.36 am, Arr York Street (formerly Yorkgate) 10.46 am.

Return Journey:

Train – Dep York Street 2.29 pm, Arr Jordanstown 2.39 pm, Arr Carrickfergus 2.50 pm, Arr Whitehead 3.01 pm.

BY CAR:

Take Belfast Road/Shore Road/York Road towards Belfast.  Immediately past Grove Wellbeing Centre at 120 York Road (on RHS), turn right onto North Queen Street. Deacon Street is the third street on the right hand side, where there is ample parking.

THE WALK:

Begins at York Street railway station (for public transport users) and at gate into Alexandra Park, Deacon Street (for car users).  We will walk through Alexandra Park and then round Belfast Waterworks Park. The walk is level and well surfaced. Note that there are no loos in either park; there are loos at York Street railway station.

LUNCH:

We will have lunch at “Nucci”, Antrim Road, Belfast (near the corner of Alexandra Park Avenue) and walk back through Alexandra Park to Deacon Street and York Street Railway Station.
