Gardening Report – 10th June 2019
The luck of the Irish was really with the gardening group when we went to Glenarm castle gardens on Monday 10 th.June, probably the only really sunny day yet this summer. Fifteen members enjoyed scones and coffee before walking around the walled gardens. Such magnificent planting of the herbaceous borders drew many comments on the size and colour of the flowers and queries as to where were the slugs and pests which are a trial to the rest of us. It was such a pleasure to wander through the beech hedges and lawns in the quietness of the gardens. Some ventured further along the castle walk under the lime trees and back to the restaurant for lunch. After a browse in the bothy and byre shops it was time for home. I think we all agreed it was a wonderful day and really recommend other u3a members to make a visit.
