Creative Challenge - Movie Title
The Challenge
Create an image that perfectly illustrates a movie title. This was potentially a none runner for me as I am most emphatically NOT a movie buff. However one very memorable title came to mind.
Clockwork Orange
Building Blocks
Purchase one orange, slice it in half and photograph it on a plane bckground.
Source an old clock, take it apart and photograph it on a plane background.
Simple!
Method
- Open the orange image, rotate 90°cw and adjust the levels to brighten it up.
- Add a new a Adjustment Layer for Hue/Saturation. Play about till the BG colour looks right.
- On the layer mask, paint out the orange so that its' original colour shows.
- Make a carefully select the clock and paste it into the orange file as a new layer.
- Use Edit> Transform> Scale to reduce the clock to the required size, then rotate and move it.
- Use the layer mask to remove all the little bits of visible background (between the spring coils etc).
- At this stage the image is almost complete, but looks very flat. Make a shadow by duplicating the clock layer then moving it down and to the left.
- Set Contrast on this layer to -100. and brightness to -50.
- This leaves a very hard and opaque shadow. To make it more natural, set opacity to 80% and change merge method from normal to difference.
Voila - One Clockwork Orange
